One-to-one leadership coaching

Become the leader your team actually needs.

Leadership coaching for managers, directors and team leads who are good at their jobs, tired of doing everyone else’s, and ready to lead differently.

Is this for you?

Coaching tends to help most when one of these sounds like your week.

  • You were promoted for being great at the work, and no one taught you how to lead the people doing it.
  • You redo work, or do it yourself, because it’s faster than explaining.
  • You avoid certain conversations, or they keep going badly.
  • You manage several generations and can’t seem to get through to some of them.
  • You worry you aren’t cut out for this, and you haven’t told anyone.
  • You want the next role, and you know something has to change to get it.

What we work on

Your foundation first

Managing a team gets easier once you know how you lead. We build from there.

Your leadership style

How you lead shapes who you hire and who struggles with you. Once you can see your style, you can adapt it.

How you communicate

Some people read between the lines. Others need every detail. We work out your style so you can tell your team what to expect.

Delegation

Nervous delegators overwhelm or underwhelm their teams. You’ll learn to hand work over and let people own it.

Emotional leadership

You’ll learn to stay steady under pressure, read the room and build a team that feels safe enough to speak up.

Multi-generational teams

Generational labels are lazy. We focus on the person in front of you and how to reach them.

Confidence and insecurity

Most leaders carry some version of “they’re going to find out.” We deal with it directly, so it stops running your decisions.

The process

How leadership coaching with me works

  1. Coffee chat

A free conversation about what’s going on and what you want to change.

  2. Root-cause work

We go deep early, to find what’s driving the pattern and agree on what success would look like at work.

  3. Practice and follow-up

You try new approaches with your team between sessions. We review what happened and keep going until it sticks.

Questions

Leadership coaching FAQ

How is leadership coaching different from leadership training?

Training teaches a group a set of skills. Coaching works on your specific situation, one to one, over time. Many organizations use both, and I offer both. See team training.

Can my company pay for coaching?

Often, yes. Many companies fund coaching through professional development budgets. If you’d like to make the case to your employer, this guide on measuring the ROI of leadership coaching is a good place to start.

How much does leadership coaching cost?

It depends on the length and depth of the work. We’ll talk through options on your free coffee chat, once we both know what you need.

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. Coaching only works if you can be honest. When a company sponsors coaching, we agree up front what, if anything, gets shared with them.

Tell me what’s going on. We’ll start there.

A coffee chat is a free, 30-minute, no-pressure conversation online about what you’re dealing with and whether coaching is the right next step.
